Hollie & Joe’s Wedding
Hollie and Joe tied the knot in the early wintery months of February 2019, for us back here in the UK dealing with freezing temperatures and blustery days. Hollie and Joe were getting married in absolute paradise that is Barbados with fruity cocktails, white sandy beaches and crystal-clear Blue skies. We just had to share Hollie and Joe’s with you all and asked our lovely house of snow bride to fill us in on all the glorious details of their big day.
VENUE – SANDALS ROYAL BARBADOS
“We wanted to have a small, intimate wedding as part of a sunny holiday. We both love the beach and an exotic holiday, and the idea of the Caribbean pretty much guaranteed us some glorious weather and beautiful scenery. To ensure people could join us we searched for months to find a hotel that was affordable but, as we can be kind-of-hotel snobs, (can’t we all?) We also wanted something luxurious for our special day. The hotel where we got married only opened a year before our stay and was absolutely stunning; with beautiful grounds and plush décor, but most importantly it was bang on BUDGET! Bonus! The entire wedding week was full of sun, laughter and pool-side cocktails” – Well someone make us a mojito…
EXPECTATION OF THE FOOD:
Joe and I dieted really hard for the wedding, to the point where all we talked and thought about in the last few weeks was the food – so we expected we’d be sat at the top table luxuriating in our meals and stuffing our faces.
REALITY OF THE FOOD:
We hardly paid any attention to the food as there were too many lovely conversations and moments to take in. Too busy to eat!

THE DRESS
“Going unto dress shopping I had a pretty solid vision of what I wanted, but after traipsing my mum and sister through London multiple weekends and roughly 50 dresses later it was clear that my so called… vision just was not right for me. My suggested we give House of Snow a try when I was home for her birthday one weekend and the second, I saw my dress hanging on the rail I loved it! It was completely different to what I had envisioned but I instantly fell in love when I saw myself wearing it in the mirror. I’d tried on lots of other nice dresses but somehow always found something, just something was not quite right, whereas with my dress…It was PERFECTION!
EXPECTATION OF FINDING THE DRESS:
“You try on a few dresses and burst into tears at one of them declaring it is “The One”
THE REALITY OF FINDING THE DRESS:
You try on hundreds of dresses shoe-horning yourself into what you always pictured you would wear (none ever quite living up to the vision) until you broaden your horizons and find that actually you love something completely different and do not want to take it off!

FAVOURITE MOMENT
“Definitely walking down, the aisle on my dad’s arm and seeing Joe’s reaction when he saw me in my dress for the first time. We just stood at the top of the aisle grinning at each other like idiots and mouthing – this is actually happening!”
EXPECTATION OF THE WEDDING MORNING:
A chaotic rush of hair, make up and stiff zips.
REALITY OF THE WEDDING MORNING:
Super long, lovely chilled morning with my favourite girls (my mumma, sister and baby niece) and even a power nap after a restless night sleep! BONUS AGAIN!

WEDDED WISDOM
“Amongst all the craziness and stress of wedding planning do not lose sight of what it’s all about. There were a few moments in the build-up where things were hectic and not going to plan, but my wonderful (now) husband kept me grounded and constantly gave me lovely reasons to remind me of why I am marrying him. Your wedding day passes in the blink of an eye; your marriage is forever.”
EXPECTATION OF PLANNING:
Stressful and all-time consuming.
REALITY OF PLANNING:
Occasionally stressful but mostly stressing about not having anything to stress about and worrying I had forgotten a million things all the time!
